An essential tool you need to unlock in Dying Light 2 Stay Human is the Paraglider which can be used to glide for a short time across rooftops and is the safest way to travel in Villedor without getting killed. The Paraglider if you know how to use it right also allows you to get across the city quickly. This How to get the Paraglider guide will tell you how to get it at your disposal, how to use it, and also how to upgrade it.
You will be able to unlock the Paraglider when you reach the Level 2 quest 'A Place To Call Home' when you meet Lawan, a former Nightrunner in the City on a quest for revenge. Once Aiden and Lawan reach the roof she will give you the Paraglider as a gift and a short tutorial will begin on how to use it.
The Paraglider is not difficult to use, you basically jump off a high building and drift down safely to lower ground. There are two things you need to keep in mind, the first is if you don't activate the Paraglider (press Z on the keyboard or X on the controller) fast enough or there is not enough wind to push you up, and you hit the ground Aiden will take damage. If you are on a tall building the fall damage can be enough to kill him. The second is making sure you keep an eye on your stamina bar as using the Paraglider will deplete it. If you run out of stamina you will fall. To make the Paraglider gain speed you have to make Aiden lean back, so he raises his legs a bit.
As you glide throughout the city you will be able to spot air vents on roofs that shoot a strong wave of air into the sky. Simply fly over these air vents to refill your stamina bar. These air vents can also be found on the streets, and if you stand over one it will launch you into the air and allow you to take off with the Paraglider.
The Paraglider becomes even more useful when you talk to a Craftsmaster and upgrade it. Unlike ordinary tools that require Infected Trophies to upgrade the Paraglider is a Nightrunner tool and as such requires Military Tech in order to upgrade it. A Paraglider that has been upgraded will move faster and more nimbly through the air.
Take a look at our Military Tech Guide to find out how you can get more of this essential resource that can be used to upgrade the Paraglider.
