Ki is also considered as your character's energy. Your attack strength will double if you absorb Ki Spheres that are the same type (color) of your character. Collecting same-colored spheres will also heal a bit of your HP gauge. The HP gauge is a shared attribute among all your characters. The defense stat also affected the amount of HP recovered. It will be game over if the HP gauge is depleted.

Collecting ki spheres the same type/color of the character grants twice the amount of Ki. For example, a red character chaining 4 red spheres will get 8 ki added to his meter. If other characters chain 4 red spheres, they'll only get 4 ki to their meter.

Rainbow-colored ki spheres will allow you to connect to any type of sphere. However, this doesn't mean that a rainbow can create a chain of different colored Ki spheres. It can connect to any color but will only chain one color, usually the first color it connects to. Collected ki spheres will disappear and the pile of ki spheres will “fall down” the pile. In any event that there's no matching color for your active character, you can select a different-colored sphere, as long they can connect multiple times. Take note that you can also change the battle order. Use this to properly match the active character to the Ki sphere you want to select.

Collected Ki Spheres will also count towards your Ki Meter. The collected Ki in the meter lasts only for one turn. You have to collect the amount again on the following turn. Basically, the more spheres you collect that matches your character's color, the faster your Ki Meter is filled. A full ki meter will allow your character to perform a powerful Super Attack.
