I'm having trouble catching Abra in the Granite Cave. I've tried using thunderwave and yawn. In both cases, Abra manages to teleport out. The pokemon I'm using are no more than 4 levels higher. What should I be doing/using?

You should be putting it to sleep.
You need to try catching it with a great ball, it takes patience to catch it, I tried like lots of times to catch it with a single throw of great ball.
Yeah, did you try sleep powder or hypnosis because you need to wait 2 turns with yawn.
Giving abra a chance to teleport.
Capture a trapinch from the desert when you get the go-goggles (after defeating Lavaridge's gym leader Flannery, your rival will come out and give you them), and its arena trap ability will keep the abra there long enough for you to catch it.
Also, trapinchs are generally on level 20, so if you can find a weak trapinch and a strong abra (level 11, I'd say) then you'll stand a good chance.
Good Luck!
Simple. Keep using the highest ball that you can get and sooner or later you will have it.
Use a pokemon that know mean look,
Oh yeah, by the way if you use mean look with a pokemon....e.g sableye then Abra won't be able to get away.
If you change pokemon then Abra will be able to get away.
Use a Wynaut, or a Trapinch because they have Arena Trap witch will not let the opponent escape.
This way you can weaken him and he will not escape.
Hope I helped!!
